Two Arrested in Irving for Attempted Theft of $50k Construction Equipment

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at around 12:22 am, the Irving Police Department received an alert of a robbery in progress at the corner of N. Highway 161 and W. Walnut Hill Ln in North Irving.

The incident involved two suspects attempting to steal a Bobcat construction tractor.

Four Irving Police Officers responded to the scene and successfully apprehended the suspects, identified as 58-year-old Norman Dundee Wright of Carrollton and 57-year-old Tamara Lynn Scullin of East Dallas. Additionally, the stolen construction equipment, a 2021 Bobcat T66 Track Loader valued at nearly $50,000, along with its loader bucket valued at $2,500, were recovered.

It was reported that the ignition of the tractor was damaged during the theft. The Bobcat is owned by Proficient Concrete, a company conducting work in the area.

Both suspects were booked into the Irving Jail and charged with Theft of Property with a value greater than $30,000 and less than $100,000, which constitutes a third-degree felony.

Norman Wright, one of the suspects, has prior convictions for theft and parole violation. On March 6th, both suspects were transferred to the Dallas County Jail, with bond set at $50,000.
