A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon following a theft at Target and a police pursuit through the Irving Mall parking lot.
On January 24, 2025, at approximately 1:04 p.m., Irving Police responded to a theft in progress at the Target on SH-183 and Belt Line Road. The suspect, later identified as Levisnay Ibanez (Ibañez) of South Irving, concealed merchandise and exited the store without paying.
Ibanez entered a vehicle and fled as an officer attempted a traffic stop. The pursuit led through the Irving Mall parking lot, with five officers responding. The suspect later abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended after a short chase.
Police recovered stolen merchandise, including computer external storage drives and six Apple AirTags, valued at $1,180.
Ibanez was transported to the Irving Jail and charged with:
- Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle
- Evading Arrest Detention on Foot
- Theft of Property ($750-$2,000)
- Possession of an Instrument Used for Retail Theft
