Apartment Fire Displaces 60, Two Hospitalized for Smoke Inhalation in Fort Worth

Fort Worth Fire Department responded to multiple calls reporting a fire at Handley Oak Apartments on Thursday evening. Upon arrival at the scene on Handley Drive, crews encountered heavy flames engulfing a ground floor unit, with the fire rapidly spreading to upper units. Firefighters immediately launched efforts to contain the blaze and aided in the rescue of two adults, providing emergency medical care before they were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

The fire escalated to a two-alarm situation before firefighters managed to bring it under control. As a result of the incident, 13 units were impacted, leaving 60 individuals displaced from their homes. American Red Cross Greater North Texas has stepped in to offer immediate emergency assistance to the affected families.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
