20-Year-Old Survives Train Collision in North Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth fire crews and police officers rushed to the area of West Bonds Ranch Road, between Fossil Springs Drive and Highway 287, just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday after reports that a train had struck a pedestrian. When emergency crews reached the scene, they found a 20-year-old man badly hurt. Because of the severity of his injuries, fire department supervisors trained to administer blood in the field were called in to help stabilize him before transport. A CareFlite helicopter was put on standby but ultimately wasn't needed, as paramedics were able to take the man by ground ambulance to a nearby trauma center. Fort Worth police say the victim is expected to pull through despite his serious injuries. Detectives are still piecing together how the collision happened and have not released further details as the investigation continues.
