Early Thursday morning, November 20th, first responders in Grand Prairie rushed to a house fire that left three people hospitalized, including one in critical condition.
Around 5:06 a.m., the Grand Prairie Fire Department began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting flames and heavy smoke coming from a single-story home in the 2700 block of Sweetbriar Lane, in the southwest part of the city. Callers also reported that several people were trapped inside.
Crews arrived within minutes and upgraded the response to a two-alarm fire so more units could assist. Firefighters went straight into a primary search while working to knock down the flames. They found one victim in a back bedroom, pulled them out, and began emergency treatment on the scene. Two more victims were rescued from other parts of the house.
All three were taken to local hospitals. One victim was listed in critical condition, while the other two were receiving treatment for their injuries.
Investigators are now working to determine what caused the fire. Grand Prairie officials have not yet released additional details about the victims or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
