Crowley Police clarified what happened Wednesday morning after several CISD campuses were placed on a “Secure Hold.” According to the department, an officer was on routine patrol around 9:45 a.m. when he spotted a former CISD student loitering in the 400 block of S. Heights. The teen admitted they were supposed to be in school, then took off running toward Crowley High School.
The officer asked dispatch to notify CISD Police so they could make contact with the student. At that point, Crowley Police said they were not aware that CISD officials had already initiated a “Secure Hold” on multiple campuses. They later learned CISD Police and Fort Worth Police, with help from Air One, had been looking for the same juvenile in connection with a separate incident on campus.
Crowley officers caught the teen after a short foot chase in the 400 block of Scuttle. The juvenile was taken to Tarrant County Juvenile Services on charges of Evading Arrest/Detention, along with a Directive to Apprehend.
The department said it aims to remain transparent with residents and advised that any questions about the district’s “Secure Hold” should go to CISD officials or CISD Police.
