Pickup Driver Killed in Pre-Dawn Collision with Semi on I-35W in Burleson

Burleson, Texas - A man died early Monday morning after his pickup truck slammed into a parked tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 35W in Burleson, authorities said. Burleson police and fire crews were called to the scene near Bethesda Road, in the 1700 block of northbound I-35W, around 4:22 a.m. on November 2, 2026.

When first responders arrived, they found the pickup had suffered severe front-end damage after hitting the rear passenger side of an 18-wheeler's cab and part of its trailer. The adult male driver of the pickup was unresponsive, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was identified as 45-year-old Osvaldo Martinez. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Investigators say the wreck happened about a mile inside an active construction zone, where cones had narrowed northbound traffic to a single lane. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and officials have not released information about what may have contributed to the collision.

The crash forced authorities to reroute all northbound I-35W traffic onto the frontage road at Bethesda Road, and the northbound entrance ramp there was temporarily shut down while crews worked the scene. The victim's name has not been released as police continue notifying next of kin.
