IRVING, Texas - A 27-year-old woman was arrested on a felony burglary charge after Irving police said she entered a neighbor's garage without permission and assaulted the woman during a dispute connected to an earlier hit-and-run.
Irving police officers responded at approximately 1:01 a.m. Sept. 20 to a residence in the 300 block of South Briery Road in South Irving following a report of a fight between neighbors.
According to police, the woman who called officers said she had been inside her garage waiting for police to respond to a hit-and-run that had occurred near the residence a couple of hours earlier.
The woman told officers she was lying on a couch inside the garage when her neighbor, identified as Zuleima Jaimes Ascencio, 27, entered through the open garage door without her permission.
Police said Jaimes Ascencio confronted the woman about the earlier hit-and-run. During the confrontation, she is accused of punching the woman once in the left forearm and slapping her just above the left elbow.
The woman provided officers with video showing Jaimes Ascencio inside the garage shortly after the reported assault, according to police.
Based on the statements and evidence gathered at the scene, officers arrested Jaimes Ascencio and booked her into the Irving Jail.
She was charged with burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.
