IRVING, Texas - Irving Police arrested 37-year-old Sheyenne Nicole Liles of Fort Worth on Tuesday night, December 30, in connection with an assault involving two individuals.
Liles was initially booked into the Irving Jail on two counts of assault. During the booking process, investigators determined that Liles was not in compliance with sex offender registration requirements. She was subsequently charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
According to the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, Liles is required to register annually for life stemming from a 2014 conviction for Compelling Prostitution of a Minor. The case originated with the Dallas Police Department and involved a 15-year-old female victim.
A jury sentenced Liles to 18 years in prison. She appealed the conviction, but the sentence was upheld on November 25, 2015. She later served her sentence under parole or mandatory supervision conditions, which included lifetime sex offender registration requirements.
Court records indicate Liles has previously lived in Alvord, Longview, and Dallas.
In 2016, Liles’ mother submitted a letter to the 204th Judicial District Court requesting the court reconsider the length of the sentence, citing alleged ineffective assistance of counsel and claiming Liles had been exploited as a minor prior to the offense. The letter stated Liles had obtained her GED, pursued college coursework, and maintained employment while incarcerated.
In 2017, Timberwolf Litigation & Research Services, LLC submitted correspondence to the court indicating Liles was preparing to seek commutation of her sentence through the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. The request cited mitigating factors, including allegations that Liles had been forced into prostitution as a runaway at age 14, as well as her conduct and rehabilitation while incarcerated.
Following those proceedings, Liles was released from prison and placed on probation or supervised release.
After her recent arrest in Irving, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice filed a parole violation. Liles was transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where she remains in custody without bond.
