Man Arrested After Barricading Himself Naked Inside Denton Hospital ER Room

Santiago Molina

Denton Police say a man was taken into custody Thursday evening after barricading himself inside an emergency room at Texas Health Presbyterian Denton, causing an estimated $10,000 in property damage.

Officers were called to the hospital, located in the 3000 block of I-35, around 5 p.m. on October 30, after staff reported that a naked man had locked himself in an ER room and was throwing medical equipment.

Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Santiago Molina, who had an active Denton County warrant for possession of dangerous drugs. Witnesses told police Molina had used a chair to block the door and continued hurling equipment at the walls and door, causing extensive damage.

Officers eventually forced their way into the room and found Molina naked and uncooperative, according to Denton PD. He was handcuffed after allegedly yelling profanities as he was wheeled out of the hospital on a gurney.

Molina was booked into the City of Denton Jail on a Criminal Mischief charge, along with the outstanding drug warrant. His bond was set at $5,000.

No injuries were reported, and hospital operations were not disrupted during the incident, police said.
