In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, an Irving Police officer arrested a Dallas man on multiple charges after a traffic stop revealed a child passenger inside the vehicle.
Around 3 a.m., an officer observed a driver committing traffic violations and driving erratically. The officer conducted a traffic stop and, upon approaching the vehicle, saw a child in the back seat. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Leron J. King of Dallas, showed signs of intoxication.
After backup officers arrived, police attempted to take King into custody. He resisted, leading to a brief struggle before he was subdued and handcuffed. King was booked into the Irving Jail at 3:05 a.m.
A blood test confirmed intoxication. King now faces charges of Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, Resisting Arrest, and Abandon/Endanger Child.
Court records show King was already out on bail from a June 3, 2025 arrest in which he was charged with Criminal Trespass and Robbery by Sudden Snatching.
The child was safely removed from the vehicle.
