Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot personally participated in the Dallas Police Department’s Focused Deterrence Neighborhood Outreach Program on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Joining officers, project specialists, prosecutors, and other stakeholders, DA Creuzot knocked on doors in targeted neighborhoods to deliver a message of accountability, opportunity, and hope.
The outreach is a key component of DPD’s evidence-based violent crime reduction plan. It focuses on justice-impacted individuals in Dallas with a history of violent offenses, offering them intensive case management and wraparound social services as an alternative to continued involvement in the criminal justice system. For those who opt not to change, the program ensures sustained enforcement through strong prosecution in partnership with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
DA Creuzot engaged directly with residents and their families, listening to their stories and leaving his personal business card. One family member, surprised by his presence, later called an officer to confirm she had indeed spoken with the elected District Attorney.
This weekend's team attempted to visit six potential clients, successfully meeting with one and speaking directly with relatives of two others. At each stop, the team conveyed a dual message: an offer of help coupled with an expectation of accountability. Beyond discussing services, the team provided boxes of food and began assessing immediate needs for support and intervention.
The Dallas County DA's office highlighted Creuzot’s involvement as an indicator of the program's importance, emphasizing that Focused Deterrence is a proven strategy for reducing violence. The office expressed pride in standing with law enforcement partners and community members to help individuals change course and enhance safety in Dallas.
