City of Dallas to Host Inaugural Event Celebrating Women in Construction Industry

The City of Dallas is set to showcase the contributions of women in the building and construction industry through the inaugural Women Who Build event. Organized by the Development Services Department, this event aims to celebrate the achievements of women in construction, architecture, engineering, code enforcement planning, and design.

Scheduled for March 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the event will take place at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters, located at 1309 Canton St., Dallas TX 75201. It will bring together women and men to celebrate, explore, connect, share opinions, and inspire the next generation.

Felecia Foster, the training and development manager, emphasized the significance of empowering women in construction, highlighting the importance of acknowledging and celebrating their dedication and expertise.

The Women Who Build event will feature a panel discussion focusing on fostering resilience, being a change maker, women in leadership roles, and inclusivity. With the theme "Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress," it coincides with International Women’s Day and the Women in Construction Week.

Andrew Espinosa, the director of the Development Services Department, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the inaugural event. He stressed the vital role women play in the industry and underscored the importance of recognizing their hard work, sharing their inspiring stories, and creating more opportunities for women in construction.

The event aims to construct a path for inclusivity, innovation, and limitless possibilities in the dynamic world of building and development.
