Fort Worth, Texas - A good Samaritan died early Friday after stopping to help people involved in a wreck on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth, authorities say. Fort Worth police and fire crews responded around 2:30 a.m. to a serious crash near I-35W and Felix Street, not far from the city's medical district just south of downtown.

According to initial reports, the first collision happened on the freeway, and a separate motorist pulled over to check on the people involved. While assisting them on the roadway, that driver was struck by another vehicle passing through the scene.

The good Samaritan was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35W were shut down for several hours overnight as investigators worked the crash site, but the interstate has since reopened to traffic.
