ARLINGTON, Texas - The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist and two passenger vehicles Monday afternoon along Interstate 20.
Emergency crews with Arlington police, fire, and EMS responded around 3:49 p.m. May 25 to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Matlock Road after reports of a major collision.
According to preliminary findings, the bicyclist was attempting to cross the interstate from south to north when a passenger vehicle traveling eastbound swerved in an effort to avoid hitting the cyclist.
Investigators said a second vehicle traveling behind the first car then struck the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities temporarily shut down eastbound Interstate 20 near Cooper Street while investigators processed the crash scene and crews cleared the roadway.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
