Lake Dallas Police Chief Alan Sawyer has announced his retirement, effective April 19, 2025, after serving the community and the police department for over 20 years.
Chief Sawyer has led the department for the past three years, during which time he focused on enhancing public safety, strengthening community-police relations, and promoting professionalism within the force, including the adoption of new technology.
In a statement, Chief Sawyer expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve, saying, "Serving as the Chief of Police for Lake Dallas has been an incredible honor. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated officers, staff, and community members. Together, we have made significant strides in improving public safety. I am confident the department will continue to thrive, and I look forward to seeing the future success of our team."
Lake Dallas City Manager Luke Olson acknowledged Chief Sawyer's long and dedicated service, stating, "We are grateful for Chief Sawyer's tireless leadership and his contributions to our community over the years. His service has left a lasting impact on the police department and the city as a whole. We wish him all the best in his retirement and thank him for his years of service."
