Man Arrested After Alleged Threats Targeting Temple City Council Members

TEMPLE, Texas - The Temple Police Department has arrested a man accused of making threatening statements directed at members of the Temple City Council.

According to police, the investigation began on May 21 after the department received information about online statements that were determined to be threatening in nature and allegedly attempted to incite violence.

Detectives with the department's Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation to identify the person responsible.

On Thursday, May 28, officers, with assistance from the Pflugerville Police Department and the Austin Police Department, located and arrested 38-year-old Isaac Andrew-Lee Smith.

Smith was charged with harassment and booked into the Travis County Jail.

The Temple Police Department emphasized that while it supports the public's right to express opinions, participate in civic discourse, and engage in protests, threats of violence directed toward any individual will be taken seriously and investigated.

The case remains under investigation.
