A multi-agency investigation led to the recovery of more than $150,000 worth of stolen construction equipment and the arrest of a suspect in Dallas on March 21, 2025. The White Settlement Police Department (WSPD), with assistance from the Dallas Police Department (DPD), executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of Garza Avenue, uncovering stolen heavy machinery, tools, and a motorcycle, along with two firearms and illicit drugs.
The investigation began on February 21, 2025, when WSPD officers responded to a major commercial theft at a construction site in the 600 block of N. Jim Wright Freeway (Loop 820 West). Thieves had stolen equipment valued at over $150,000. During the investigation, the victim discovered some of the stolen items listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Detectives traced the social media profiles associated with the listings, gathering enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on March 21, WSPD detectives, alongside DPD’s South Central Crime Response Team and South Central Drone Unit, executed the search warrant. Investigators recovered multiple stolen items believed to have been taken from construction sites across North Texas. A stolen motorcycle from Fort Worth was also found.
During the operation, officers arrested 26-year-old Ulysses Medina, who was at the location. Medina was taken into custody on the following charges:
-
Probation Violation Warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Dallas County)
-
Misdemeanor Warrant (Plano Police Department)
-
Misdemeanor Warrant (University Park Police Department)
-
Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 Under 1 Gram (Dallas Police Department)
Authorities have not ruled out additional arrests as they continue to investigate the stolen equipment operation.
White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook praised the collaborative effort between agencies, stating, "Our goal is always to work hard to recover stolen property and identify those criminals responsible. By being proactive and working alongside multiple victims, we were able to help them recover almost all of their construction equipment that was stolen. It is a rare occurrence to recover such a large amount of stolen property, and I am very proud of the team today."
Assistant Chief Yount joined Chief Cook at the scene of the search warrant as law enforcement secured the property and continued their investigation. Fort Worth Police Department’s West Division Criminal Investigations Team also assisted in the operation.
Authorities are urging other potential victims who have had construction equipment stolen in recent months to contact law enforcement, as some recovered items have not yet been linked to specific theft cases.
