On Saturday morning, January 25, 2025, two Dallas County deputies were injured after their patrol vehicle was struck while they were investigating a major accident on eastbound Interstate 20 at Cockrell Hill Road. The deputies were sitting in their vehicle with emergency lights activated around 7:20 AM when a black Mercedes sedan hit them from behind.
The collision caused injuries to both deputies and the driver of the Mercedes. All three individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Mercedes will face charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI). Fortunately, both deputies were released from the hospital after receiving care.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department expressed gratitude for the community's support and prayers, stating, "We want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers for our deputies that were involved in an accident yesterday morning. They are home recovering."
