On Sunday, July 21, at 3:42 p.m., the Fort Worth Fire Department, Police Department, and MedStar EMS were dispatched to the area of Beach Street and East Freeway at the Trinity River following reports of a possible drowning.
Emergency personnel determined that a male victim had entered the water to rescue a child who was struggling. The child was successfully saved, but the man was swept away by the current.
Fort Worth PD’s Air-1 helicopter assisted in locating the adult male, whose body was recovered a short distance from the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the victim's identity.
