A significant fire broke out just after 11:00 am today at a warehouse located in the 7600 block of Sand Street in far east Fort Worth. Multiple calls flooded the Fort Worth Fire Department reporting flames engulfing the large commercial building.

Upon arrival, Engine 27 found the structure ablaze, prompting immediate action. Firefighters initiated efforts to combat the fire and gain access to the various businesses housed within the approximately 40,000 square foot building.

As the fire raged and with the added challenge of strong winds, authorities made the decision to escalate the response, calling for a second alarm to summon additional resources to the scene in an effort to contain the blaze.

Due to concerns about the stability of the building's roof, firefighters were forced to retreat outside and transition to a defensive stance in battling the inferno.

After more than two hours of intense firefighting efforts, the fire was finally brought under control.

One firefighter sustained non-life-threatening burns during the operation and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
