On January 4, 2024, at approximately 2:37 PM, Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department responded to a call at Sol De Jalisco #4 restaurant, located at 1680 Morgan’s Point Road, regarding a reported fraud in progress.
A female suspect had contacted the restaurant, posing as a representative of a vendor used by the establishment. The imposter claimed that a recent delivery had been made, and the driver failed to collect payment. To support her story, the suspect sent a fraudulent invoice and then personally appeared at the restaurant to collect the supposed debt.
Recognizing the suspicious circumstances, a vigilant staff member promptly contacted law enforcement. A police officer from the Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department arrived at the scene and attempted to apprehend the suspect. However, the female failed to comply with the officer's commands, entering a 2016 Buick Verano and locking herself inside.
Ignoring attempts to halt her escape, the suspect fled the scene in the vehicle, leading to a pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies. The chase spanned across Morgan’s Point Resort, Temple, and Belton, involving officers from the Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department, Temple Police Department, Bell County Constables Office – Precinct 3, and Texas Department of Public Safety.
The pursuit concluded in the parking lot of the Bell County Justice Center at 1201 Huey Drive in Belton, where officers successfully apprehended the suspect. She was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Bell County Jail on charges including Evading Arrest or Detention, Evading with a Vehicle, Criminal Attempt, and an outstanding Felony arrest warrant issued by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.
