In the early hours of Friday, December 29, 2023, Killeen Police Officers responded to a series of calls reporting multiple gunshots in the 1200 block of Culp. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. Immediate life-saving measures were initiated by the officers until Killeen EMS arrived. Subsequently, the victim was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in critical condition.
Simultaneously, a second male with a gunshot wound was reported in the 1100 block of Culp Ave. Officers administered first-aid until Killeen EMS arrived, and the individual was later transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott and White Hospital. Fortunately, his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
In connection to the shooting on Culp Avenue, a third male believed to be involved arrived at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights with gunshot wounds. This individual was later transferred to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in stable condition.
Preliminary findings from the officer's investigation indicate that two of the gunshot victims were allegedly involved in a burglary or attempted theft of a vehicle prior to the shooting. The investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
