In the early hours of Saturday, December 30, the Temple Police Department responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on 31st Street near Sleepy Hollow Lane. At approximately 3:26 a.m., officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle wrapped around a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Damian Avila, was pronounced deceased. The impact of the crash resulted in pieces of the vehicle being launched into a nearby residence. No additional injuries have been reported from the residential area.
