In the evening of December 11, 2023, the Grand Prairie Fire Department swiftly responded to a distress call regarding a structure fire in the 3600 block of Park Ridge Drive.
Upon arrival at approximately 6:16 p.m., firefighters encountered a single-story home engulfed in flames. Responding with urgency, they initiated a primary search for a reported trapped individual.
Tragically, firefighters discovered an adult male, later identified as 51-year-old Robert Barnes, in a bedroom within the burning residence. Despite immediate efforts to rescue him, Barnes was transported to Parkland Hospital in critical condition.
Regrettably, Mr. Barnes succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.
