In an effort to promote environmentally friendly practices, the city of Irving has announced its annual Christmas Tree Roundup, providing residents with convenient ways to dispose of fresh-cut Christmas trees from December 27 to January 14.
As part of the city’s weekly curbside brush/bulky waste pickup, fresh-cut Christmas trees will be collected from residents' curbs. Additionally, the city has established drop-off locations where residents can bring their Christmas trees during the specified collection dates.
The drop-off locations include:
- Cottonwood Creek Park, 4051 N. Story Road
- Hunter Ferrell Landfill, 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road (Operating hours: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday; closed on city holidays)
- Las Colinas Service Center, 5964 Riverside Drive (southern section of the parking lot)
- Southwest Park, 2800 W. Shady Grove Road
To ensure the success of the recycling program, residents are reminded to remove all decorations, such as tree stands, lights, tinsel, nails, and ornaments, whether placing trees at the curb or dropping them off. Additionally, plastic bags covering the trees should be removed.
All fresh-cut Christmas trees collected through this program will be mulched and made available for a nominal fee at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill. This initiative aims to encourage responsible disposal practices and contribute to the community’s commitment to sustainability.
