On December 12, 2023, the Cleburne Police Department responded to a call from Walls Security, alerting them to a non-responsive infant brought to the emergency room. Officers, deputies, and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrived at the hospital.
Concurrently, another call came in from a concerned neighbor, reporting that the grandmother of the infant was attempting self-harm. The neighbor explained that the grandmother had fallen asleep with the infant in the bathtub, resulting in the tragic drowning of the baby. In response, deputies, CID, Crime Scene investigators, and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the grandmother requested transportation to Hughley Hospital. Meanwhile, the non-responsive infant was airlifted via Teddy Bear Air Transport to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. The child was pronounced dead as the hospital.
