Granbury Independent School District (GISD) made a significant announcement on December 11, officially appointing Bobby Allison as the head football coach and boys' athletic coordinator at Granbury High School. Allison, with a coaching career spanning 20 years, brings a wealth of experience to the position.

Having spent the last decade at Northwest High School, Allison served as the assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and recruiting coordinator since 2014. His coaching journey includes stops at Odessa, Sharpstown, Levelland, San Angelo Central, and a two-season stint as the Special Teams Coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Allison takes over from Sonny Galindo, who served as the interim head coach for the 2023 season. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Allison said, “I’d like to thank Dr. Jeremy Glenn and the Granbury ISD Board of Trustees for this opportunity to become the head coach of the Granbury Pirates. I am so thankful and excited to come to Granbury and lead these great young men.”

Throughout his career, Allison has been part of multiple district championships and successful programs. His tenure at Northwest saw three district titles and three 10-win seasons, contributing to the team's first playoff win in school history. At San Angelo Central, Allison's co-defensive coordinator role helped the Bobcats achieve 10 wins for the first time in two decades.

Dr. Jeremy Glenn, GISD Superintendent, expressed optimism about the future of the Granbury football program under Coach Allison's leadership. "Coach Allison is a tremendous leader and coach who comes highly recommended from some of the top coaches in the state," said Dr. Glenn. "We are excited about the future of the Granbury football program under Coach Allison’s direction and know he will be a great asset to our district, the student-athletes, and the community.”

Acknowledging Allison's achievements, he was named the Northwest ISD Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016-17 and the Built by Nature Assistant Coach of the Week in 2016. Beyond football, Allison has coached Track & Field, producing an individual discus state champion. With a background in teaching history, he has recently served as the Physical Education Department Head at Northwest High School.

Allison holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University and a Master of Education from the University of Missouri. He and his wife, April, have two daughters, Avery and Layla.
