Governor Greg Abbott Appoints Cathy Bryce, Ed.D. to UNT System Board of Regents

In an official announcement today, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Cathy Bryce, Ed.D., of Argyle, to the University of North Texas (UNT) System Board of Regents. Bryce's term is set to expire on May 22, 2029.

Cathy Bryce brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having had a successful career as a retired investment banker and consultant. With over 30 years in teaching and school administration, she served as superintendent for Highland Park ISD from 2001 to 2009 and Weatherford ISD from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to her administrative roles, Bryce was an adjunct professor at UNT and an active member of various educational associations, including the Texas Association of School Administrators, the Urban Superintendents Association of America, the American Association of School Administrators, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). She has also served as a former board member and president of Texas ASCD.

Currently, Bryce chairs the Region 11 Education Service Center Board of Directors and the UNT Foundation Board of Directors. She is a member and former chair of the UNT Alumni Association, UNT College of Education Advisory Board, and the Denton Benefit League.

Participating in conferences and training with the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, Bryce is dedicated to her involvement in education. She is a former member of the KERA Public Television Board of Directors.

Cathy Bryce holds an impressive academic background, earning a Bachelor of Music Education from Midwestern State University, a Master of Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a Doctor of Education from UNT.
