The SCU focused on dismantling the operations of those responsible for the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics in Hood County and its neighboring areas. As the investigation continues, authorities anticipate additional charges and arrests.

Since its establishment in 2021, the SCU, under the leadership of Sheriff Roger Deeds, has played a crucial role in seizing stolen and illegal firearms, recovering stolen vehicles and property, and removing substantial quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hallucinogens, and THC from the community.

The SCU's daily mission is to proactively deter the sale and use of illegal narcotics, prevent thefts, recover stolen property, and address violent crimes affecting the community. This year, the unit has also taken steps to combat overdose deaths by identifying and charging drug dealers under newly enacted legislation, holding them accountable for deaths resulting from the sale of illegal narcotics.

Sheriff Roger Deeds commented, "I hope the work of my deputies and operations such as these will serve as notice to the criminals in our community that their exploits will not be tolerated in Hood County, and we will work every day to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens through proactive enforcement like today."

The Hood County Sheriff's Office expresses gratitude to the United States Marshals Office - North Texas Fugitive Task Force, Region VIII Special Operations Group, Hood County Crime Stoppers, and the 355th District Attorney's Office for their collaboration and assistance in Operation Cold Turkey.
