Dr. Susan Hull, the Superintendent of Grand Prairie Independent School District (GPISD), tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon while vacationing in Arizona. The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Interstate 40, east of Flagstaff, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Arizona state troopers reported that Hull, 60, was riding a motorcycle when, for reasons yet unknown, the bike veered off the interstate and collided with a guardrail. Despite wearing a helmet, she sustained severe injuries. Dr. Hull passed away on Monday at a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

Burke Hall, President of the GPISD Board of Trustees, expressed the profound impact of Dr. Hull's passing on the entire Grand Prairie ISD community and the broader educational community. Hall stated, "This is a significant loss for the entire Grand Prairie ISD community as well as the education community at large. Over the past 12 years, Dr. Hull made a significant impact on GPISD and helped establish our reputation around the globe. She also made a lasting difference in school children around Texas through her advocacy and creativity. She will be sorely missed."

District spokesperson Sam Buchmeyer described Dr. Hull as a dynamic leader and a tremendous mentor. A 'Celebration of Life' ceremony has been scheduled for Friday, July 12, at Pilgrim Chapel on the campus of Dallas Baptist University, starting at 10 a.m.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 13, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church in New Boston, Texas. The funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the New Boston High School Auditorium.
