Irving ISD Honored as District of Distinction by Texas Art Education Association

Irving Independent School District (ISD) has been recognized as a District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). The prestigious award was conferred during the TAEA Fall Conference General Assembly on November 17, at the association's Administration & Supervision Division meeting.

Out of over 1,200 eligible districts, Irving ISD stood out by meeting the criteria outlined in the 14-point rubric for the 2021-2022 school year. Only 68 districts, approximately 5.5 percent of all eligible districts, received the esteemed honor of being named a District of Distinction in art education.

The Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, played a crucial role in recognizing districts with exemplary leadership in fostering the arts within their communities. TAEA evaluated districts based on their active participation in events such as Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE), Junior VASE, and Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM). Additionally, field experiences, community service initiatives, and community exhibitions were among the factors considered in the comprehensive rubric for the award.
