On Friday, December 1, 2023, the City of Mansfield will assume sole control and responsibility for all operations at Big League Dreams Mansfield park, following a unanimous decision by the Mansfield City Council on September 11. This decision came in the wake of Big League Dreams Mansfield, Inc. (BLD) failing to comply with the terms of their maintenance and operating agreement.
The decision to terminate the agreement with BLD was prompted not only by their failure to adhere to the agreement's terms but also by continuous feedback from concerned citizens about the facility's condition. The City's commitment to providing remarkable experiences to both residents and visitors led to this move, as the park, located at 500 Heritage Parkway S., no longer aligned with the city's vision.
The sports park, established in 2008 through a public-private partnership, features eight ball fields, an indoor pavilion, two sports club restaurants, batting cages, a playground, and a pro shop. The City's Parks and Recreation Department has initiated an assessment of the facility to determine its overall condition.
In the coming months, all or part of the park is expected to be temporarily closed for a full facility feasibility assessment. It's important to note that the City of Mansfield is allowing the current leagues and tournaments to finish their seasons at the facility through November. Organizations or players with questions regarding ongoing leagues and tournaments should contact BLD staff at (817) 539-0700 or via email at info@bigleaguedreams.com.
The City has not yet made any final decisions regarding the future operations, management, and maintenance of Big League Dreams Mansfield. Conversations on this matter will continue as staff completes the full assessment. Any repair or operational contracts for the facility will follow the standard bidding process, which will be announced and handled through traditional channels.
