A fatal accident occurred on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when an 18-year-old male motorcyclist from Palo Pinto lost his life in a collision on State Highway 377. The incident took place at around 10:14 p.m. near the intersection of State Highway 377 and Parish Lane.
A Roanoke police officer attempted to pull over the motorcycle, which was traveling southbound, after witnessing a traffic violation near the aforementioned intersection. However, the motorcyclist accelerated at a high speed, attempting to evade the officer. The motorcyclist collided with the back of a sedan in the 700 block of State Highway 377.
Emergency services arrived at the scene, and both the motorcyclist and the 50-year-old male driver of the sedan, a resident of Boyd, were rushed to Baylor Scott & White in Grapevine for medical treatment.
The young motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the sedan, after receiving necessary medical attention, has been released from the hospital.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
