The Temple Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault.
At approximately 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the block of 1100 South 55th St.
Two individuals, later identified as 27-year-old male Carmen Sammy Deleon III and 27-year-old male Sebastian Drey Deleon, entered the establishment and began causing disturbances. After being asked to leave by the bartender, Carmen Deleon pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the bartender. He pulled the slide back, ejecting a full round and causing another to be chambered.
As the two suspects exited the establishment, they got into a black SUV and headed eastbound on Ave L. Responding officers located the vehicle on Ave K near 31st St. The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens, but the driver refused to stop. The driver ran several stop signs before finally stopping at a gas station located at 31st and Ave M.
A high-risk stop was initiated, and the driver, identified as Drey, approached the officers, putting them at risk. To gain compliance, the officers used a taser. Subsequently, Carmen was arrested, and a handgun was found on the floor of the vehicle, on top of a bag containing marijuana. Additionally, a jar of marijuana was found behind the driver's seat.
Carmen Deleon was charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Carrying Weapon, and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces. Drey was charged with evading arrest, resisting search, and possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces.
No injuries were sustained.
This case is under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500 or the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477, where callers can report anonymously.
