On September 10, 2023, Irving Police arrested 68-year-old Michael Lee Broadnax on multiple charges. Broadnax, who is homeless, was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2 and public intoxication. .
He was apprehended and subsequently booked into the Irving Jail at 5:40 pm. It was also revealed that Broadnax had an outstanding parole violation warrant from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), along with several warrants issued by the Dallas City Marshal's Office for alcohol-related public violations and sleeping in public.
In order to address the fines related to the intoxication and pedestrian-walked charges, Broadnax will be required to serve community service.
