Labor Day Alters Trash Collection and Landfill Hours in City of Irving

As Labor Day approaches, the City of Irving has announced a temporary adjustment to its waste management services and landfill operations. In honor of the national holiday, residential trash, curbside recycling, and brush collection services will be suspended on Monday, September 4th.

Residents are encouraged to adjust their waste disposal plans accordingly, taking into consideration the one-day delay in the usual collection schedule. Normal waste collection services are expected to resume on Tuesday, September 5th.

Moreover, the Hunter Ferrell Landfill will also be closed on Monday, September 4th. The landfill is set to reopen its gates promptly at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5th, to resume regular business hours.

All trash, recycling and bulky/brush pickups normally scheduled Sept. 4-7 will be conducted Sept. 5-8. 

  • Monday, Sept. 4 collection moves to Tuesday, Sept. 5.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 5 collection moves to Wednesday, Sept. 6. 
  • Wednesday, Sept. 6 collection moves to Thursday, Sept. 7. 
  • Thursday, Sept. 7 collection moves to Friday, Sept. 8.

In addition, the following facilities will be closed:

  • Irving City Hall
  • Heritage Aquatic Center    
  • Hunter Ferrell Landfill 
  • Irving Archives and Museum            
  • Irving Arts Center
  • Irving public libraries        
  • North Lake Natatorium
  • Recreation centers

 All offices and services will resume normal business hours on Sept 5.
