On the early morning of July 25, 2023, a devastating accident occurred on the 1300 block of Highway 199 West, eastbound, resulting in the loss of a young man's life. The Azle Police and Fire departments rushed to the scene around 4:07 am in response to a report of a major accident involving a pedestrian.
Upon their arrival, first responders were met with a heart-wrenching scene as they discovered the lifeless body of 26-year-old Dakota Castleman, a resident of Alvarado. It appears that Dakota had attempted to cross the busy roadway when he was tragically struck by a passing vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities. As of now, no charges have been filed against the driver, and it is believed that intoxication was not a contributing factor to the accident.
