IRVING, Texas - A 22-year-old Irving man was arrested at a Las Colinas apartment complex after police found he was wanted on a federal warrant involving the operation of a drone within a runway exclusion zone.
Irving police officers went to the Estates at Las Colinas in the 4700 block of North O'Connor Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sept. 21 to execute the arrest warrant.
Federal authorities had provided Irving police with information indicating the wanted man, identified as Pujan Gajjar, might be living at the apartment complex.
Two Irving officers responded and contacted Gajjar, who was immediately detained.
A check through the National Crime Information Center confirmed an active federal no-bond hold for Gajjar on allegations involving operation of an unmanned aircraft within a runway exclusion zone and knowingly operating as an airman without an airman's certificate, according to Irving police.
Police did not provide details about the underlying incident, including when or where the alleged drone operation occurred, which airport or runway was involved, or what type of unmanned aircraft Gajjar is accused of operating.
Gajjar, who police records indicate is originally from India and currently resides in Irving, also had an outstanding speeding warrant from the city of Westlake.
Officers transported Gajjar to the Irving Jail without incident. The following morning, the U.S. Marshals Service took custody of him.
