IRVING, Texas - An Irving man was arrested after police said he assaulted both of his elderly parents during separate incidents at a Las Colinas apartment complex.
Irving police responded Sept. 21 to a reported domestic violence incident at Cooper's Crossing Apartment Homes in the 1100 block of Oxbow Drive.
During the investigation, officers learned that 26-year-old Ammar Almasri had been involved in a confrontation with his 70-year-old father in the apartment complex parking lot.
Police said Almasri slapped his father in the face. The father told officers the strike did not cause him pain but left him feeling scared and angry.
The responding officer took Almasri into custody.
As officers continued their investigation, Almasri's 66-year-old mother reported a separate encounter with her son that she said occurred the previous day inside their apartment.
According to police, the woman said Almasri wrapped his hand around her throat while they were in the living area of the apartment. She told officers the encounter caused her to fear her son.
Almasri was arrested and booked into the Irving Jail on two counts of assault of an elderly individual.
