IRVING, Texas - An Irving man has been arrested on a first-degree felony charge following an investigation into the sexual abuse of a minor.
The Irving Police Department's VICE Unit arrested 31-year-old Jimmy Alexander Martinez-Cruz on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Texan Apartments in the 1000 block of E. Pioneer Drive, about a block from N. Nursery Road.
Martinez-Cruz was booked into the Irving Jail at 4:48 p.m. and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.
Two days after his arrest, Martinez-Cruz was transferred to the Dallas County Jail. His bond was set at $150,000.
Jail records also indicate that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed an immigration hold on Martinez-Cruz. The hold lists him as an "illegal alien," according to the jail record. An immigration detainer is separate from the criminal charge and can allow federal immigration authorities to assume custody if he is otherwise eligible for release.
Irving police have not released additional details about the allegations, including the age of the child or the relationship between Martinez-Cruz and the victim, in order to protect the minor's identity.
The investigation remains ongoing.
