Garland Girl, 5, Dies After Being Left in Hot Vehicle Outside Home

GARLAND, Texas - A 5-year-old girl died Tuesday evening after being inadvertently left inside a car outside a Garland residence, according to Garland police and fire officials. Emergency crews were called to a home on Redbird Drive around 8:20 p.m. after family members reported a medical emergency involving the child. Investigators say an adult relative had returned home from school with the girl and her sibling, but the 5-year-old was left behind in the vehicle. When the family realized she was missing, they searched the property and found her unresponsive inside the car. Relatives began CPR immediately and called 911 for help. Paramedics took over lifesaving efforts when they arrived and rushed the child to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Garland police say the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing, and no charges have been filed as detectives work to piece together the timeline leading up to the tragedy.
