IRVING, Texas - A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning after a suspected drunk driver traveled the wrong way on State Highway 114 near MacArthur Boulevard in Irving, according to police. Irving Police and Fire crews were called to the scene around 2:40 a.m. following reports of a serious collision in the highway's eastbound lanes. Investigators say the driver had been heading westbound in the eastbound lanes when the car crashed head-on into the motorcycle. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of intoxication, and a passenger riding in the same vehicle was also arrested on a public intoxication charge. The crash shut down State Highway 114 near the MacArthur Boulevard interchange, an area close to Irving's Las Colinas business district, while officers worked the scene. As of 9 a.m., hours after the wreck, the highway remained closed as authorities continued their investigation.
