A 39-year-old Forney woman was killed and an 8-month-old infant suffered serious injuries early Saturday after a two-vehicle crash on US-80 near FM-460, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Troopers say the wreck happened around 4:25 a.m. when an SUV traveling eastbound in the exit lane toward FM-460 attempted an unsafe lane change and struck a pickup truck traveling in the adjacent lane. The impact sent the pickup into a concrete barrier, causing it to flip and land upside down. The SUV also collided with the barrier after the initial crash.
The pickup's driver, the Forney woman, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. An 8-month-old child riding in the truck was also hospitalized with what officials describe as serious injuries.
The SUV's driver, a 25-year-old from Converse, Texas, and two passengers in that vehicle were not hurt. DPS Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, and no further details have been released.
