69-year-old Woman Arrested By Irving Police for Drug Dealing

Jacquelyn Farrow Thompson

IRVING, Texas. A 69-year-old woman was arrested on multiple felony charges after police say she admitted to smoking methamphetamine before driving and officers later discovered more than seven grams of the drug, along with suspected drug distribution materials, inside her vehicle.

Irving police responded at approximately 1:12 a.m. on July 5 to a "one down" call at the 7-Eleven in the 3300 block of W. Walnut Hill Lane near N. Belt Line Road after receiving reports of a woman passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle double parked with the driver unconscious behind the wheel and the keys resting in her lap.

Police identified the driver as 69-year-old Jacquelyn Farrow Thompson.

According to investigators, Thompson told officers she had driven to the convenience store from work and admitted she had smoked methamphetamine approximately 10 to 15 minutes before driving.

Officers reported observing several signs of impairment, including extremely dilated pupils, bloodshot eyes, and a lack of normal blinking. During the encounter, Thompson also urinated on herself, according to the arrest report.

Standardized Field Sobriety Tests indicated she was impaired, and she was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

After Thompson was taken into custody, an officer spotted a methamphetamine pipe in the vehicle's center console ashtray.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 7.3 grams of methamphetamine packaged in four separate baggies. Police said three of the baggies contained methamphetamine in rock form. Officers also recovered a digital scale, a metal spoon with suspected drug residue, and numerous small plastic baggies similar to those used to package the narcotics.

Investigators said the quantity of methamphetamine, combined with the scale and packaging materials, indicated the drugs were intended for distribution rather than personal use.

In addition to the DWI charge, Thompson was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, between 4 and 200 grams.

Police said Thompson has prior drug-related arrests in Hopkins County and Rockwall County.
