Dallas Police and Firefighters Rescue Woman Trapped for Days in Ravine

DALLAS, Texas — A coordinated rescue by the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire-Rescue is being credited with saving the life of a young woman who had been trapped for days in a steep ravine.

According to the Dallas Police Department, the rescue began at approximately 5:25 p.m. on June 28 after a young man heard faint cries for help coming from a wooded area behind a nearby high school.

When he investigated, he discovered a young woman trapped in a steep ravine. Authorities said she had become stuck in deep mud and sewage and had been unable to free herself for several days.

Dallas police officers and Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel quickly responded to the scene.

First responders navigated approximately a quarter-mile of difficult terrain in 104-degree temperatures to reach the woman.

Working together, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics safely extricated her from the ravine and transported her to a local hospital.

She was treated for severe dehydration, prolonged sun exposure, and other injuries resulting from her extended entrapment.

The Dallas Police Department praised the teamwork displayed during the rescue, thanking all of the officers, firefighters, and paramedics involved for their swift response and lifesaving efforts.

Authorities said the coordinated operation highlights the importance of collaboration among public safety agencies in protecting the Dallas community.
