ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred early Thursday morning along Interstate 20 near Bowen Road.
Officers responded at approximately 4:08 a.m. on June 18, 2026, to the westbound lanes of I-20 after receiving reports of a major crash involving a pedestrian and a commercial motor vehicle.
According to the preliminary investigation, a man and woman were involved in a domestic disturbance at a nearby motel prior to the incident.
Investigators learned the man left the motel on foot and began crossing Interstate 20 from north to south. A short time later, the woman also entered the freeway.
Police said the woman was struck by an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on I-20.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the woman's identity pending notification of family members.
The driver of the commercial truck immediately stopped after the collision, called 911, and remained at the scene. Investigators said the driver was cooperative throughout the investigation and was not injured.
At this time, no criminal charges are being filed against the truck driver.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 20 experienced significant traffic disruptions as officers investigated the crash and processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
