Cement Mixer Driver Killed in Crash on FM 1187 in Southwest Tarrant County

FORT WORTH, Texas — A cement mixer driver was killed Tuesday afternoon after the truck crashed off the roadway and into a ditch in southwest Tarrant County.

Emergency crews responded at approximately 12:55 p.m. on June 16 to the 7600 block of FM 1187 near Ben Day Murrin Road.

The response included personnel from Tarrant County ESD No. 1, Benbrook EMS, the Fort Worth Fire Department, the Crowley Fire Department and the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.

When first responders arrived, they found a cement mixer that had left the roadway and sustained significant damage after crashing into a ditch.

Authorities said crews worked to gain access to the heavily damaged vehicle. Once they reached the cab, they determined the driver had died at the scene.

The driver's identity has not been released.

FM 1187 was partially closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene and crews worked to remove the wreckage.

Officials have not released information regarding what may have caused the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
