IRVING, Texas — An Irving man was arrested on a felony charge after police investigated a domestic violence incident involving a pregnant woman, according to the Irving Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th, to a residence in the 1300 block of E. Union Bower Road, near John R. Good Elementary School, regarding a reported domestic disturbance that had just occurred.
During the investigation, officers spoke with a Hispanic woman through a Spanish-to-English translator. The woman told police that she had been involved in an argument with her husband, identified as 30-year-old Luis Cruz Guzman.
According to the victim, she attempted to leave the residence during the dispute when Guzman shut a door on her arm, pinning it and causing significant pain.
The woman also informed officers that she was approximately seven weeks pregnant and that Guzman was aware of the pregnancy.
Police reported observing redness on the victim's arm that was consistent with her account of the incident.
Based on the evidence gathered, officers determined probable cause existed and arrested Guzman.
He was charged with Assault of a Pregnant Person, a third-degree felony under Texas law.
Guzman was transported to the Irving Jail for booking and processing. His bond was set at $5,000.
Jail records show he posted bond on June 6 and was released pending future court proceedings.
