Two Fatal Crashes Investigated Hours Apart on Fort Worth Highways

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating two separate fatal crashes that occurred within hours of each other early Sunday morning, including a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Interstate 35W.

The first crash occurred at approximately 1:58 a.m. on southbound Interstate 35W near East Ripy Street.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, an adult male had exited his vehicle following a minor traffic accident to inspect the damage. While standing outside his vehicle, he was struck by another vehicle.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver who struck the man fled the area but was later located and detained at a separate location. Investigators have not yet released the identities of those involved or announced any charges.

Several hours later, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a second fatal crash on State Highway 121 near Sylvania Avenue, east of Uptown Fort Worth.

Investigators determined one of the vehicles was traveling the wrong way when it collided with another vehicle.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the condition of the surviving driver.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
